OPEC+ Approves August Output Increase

OPEC+ approved another 188,000 bpd production increase for Aug-26, following similar hikes in June and July. The decision comes as Strait of Hormuz oil exports gradually recover, easing supply concerns. Although actual production remains below pre-war levels, Brent crude has retreated to around USD 72/bbl amid recovering exports, weaker Chinese demand, higher non-Middle East supply, and strategic stock releases. Markets will monitor Hormuz export normalization and Chinese demand. If sustained, OPEC+ could fully unwind its 2023 production cuts with one more similar increase in September. (CNBC)
