Indonesia Govt. Confirmed Sufficient Funding to Service Restructured Whoosh Debt
The govt. confirmed sufficient funding to service the Jakarta-Bandung high-speed rail (Whoosh) debt following an 80-year restructuring, which would reduce annual debt payments to around IDR 1 tn or slightly below. Finance Minister Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa noted that several entities under the Ministry of Finance generate annual profits of IDR 3 tn–7 tn, potentially providing sufficient funds to cover the obligations. The govt. is also reviewing the restructuring scheme and plans to complete the transfer of Whoosh management from Danantara to the Ministry of Finance on 15 Sep-26, with a potential future extension of the network to East Java.
